Dassault Aviation and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) have signed four Production Transfer Agreements that pave the way for manufacturing Rafale fighter jet fuselages in India—a move that promises to bolster the country’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities and contribute to global supply chains, according to Dassault Aviation’s statement on June 5.
“This facility represents a significant investment in India’s aerospace infrastructure and will serve as a key hub for high-precision manufacturing,” Dassault Aviation stated in a stock exchange filing.
As part of the partnership, Tata Advanced Systems will set up a state-of-the-art production facility in Hyderabad to manufacture critical structural sections of the Rafale, including the lateral shells of the rear fuselage, the complete rear section, the central fuselage, and the front section, Dassault added.
The first fuselage sections are expected to roll off the production line in FY28, with the facility aiming to produce up to two complete fuselages per month.
“For the first time, Rafale fuselages will be manufactured outside of France,” said Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation. “This marks a decisive step in strengthening our supply chain in India. Thanks to the growing capabilities of local partners like TASL, a key player in India’s aerospace sector, this supply chain will support the successful ramp-up of Rafale production while meeting our quality and competitiveness standards.”
Sukaran Singh, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Advanced Systems Limited, commented, “This partnership represents a major milestone in India’s aerospace journey. The production of the complete Rafale fuselage in India highlights the confidence Dassault Aviation places in TASL’s capabilities and the strength of our collaboration. It also underscores the remarkable progress India has made in building a modern and resilient aerospace manufacturing ecosystem capable of supporting global platforms.”
